LINC assists with cancer related legal and financial issues by providing free referral services to a pro bono attorneys, volunteer financial advisers, and community resources in Greater Richmond. LINC is the cancer patient’s advocate and we are here to help you with your non-medical needs.
Issues you may have never even considered can arise from a cancer diagnosis including legal and financial problems. Anyone diagnosed with cancer or a family member or caregiver who assists a cancer patient is eligible for LINC’s services.

Each year, LINC staff and volunteer professionals help over 400 cancer patients from Greater Richmond, Virginia solve their legal and financial problems. LINC accomplishes its mission through the generous assistance of over 150 attorneys, financial planners, and professionals. LINC provides help and guidance with the following issues:
- Estate Planning and Advance Medical Directives
- Medical Insurance/Health Care Law
- Social Security and Public Benefits
- Employment and Employee Benefits
- Financial/Debt Issues
There is no fee for LINC’s services. If you are referred to an attorney, legal fees may be waived if you have low income which is determined by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Guidelines. Fees are based on ability to pay.
When you call, LINC’s Client Service’s Attorney will help sort out the issues and assist you in finding resources in the community after the initial intake process is completed. What you tell LINC staff and volunteers is confidential and is protected by the attorney-client privilege.
